Holistic Massage

The term holistic comes from the Greek word ‘holos’ which means ‘whole’ and Holistic Massage takes into account the person’s whole being.i.e. your physical, mental, emotional and spiritual wellbeing which are all interconnected. This includes any physical symptoms you may have as well as any emotional problems and stresses in your life

It is beneficial to all body systems and is a natural and effective way to treat physical and psychological conditions. Holistic Massage is safe, non-threatening, and non-invasive and can be used alone or in combination with other treatments

 Where does Massage come from?

Massage has been recorded as far back as 3000BC in China and was considered to be effective in health preservation and creating a relaxed feeling in the body. It was used by other civilizations such as the Romans, Greeks, Japanese, and Indian cultures. The ancient Greeks used massage as part of their every day fitness routine and massage was also central to Roman baths.

It was used to treat stiff and sore muscles and joints, to heal disease, strengthen the constitution and to improve the circulation. These cultures are known for their holistic approach to healing and they considered massage to bring balance and harmony to mind, body and spirit.

Massage is still used as a holistic treatment and takes the whole person into consideration, not just a symptom or condition

Holistic massage is essentially the manipulation of the soft tissues of the body - the muscles, tendons and ligaments. It can be used for relaxation, stimulation or rehabilitation of the whole body or part of it.

It promotes suppleness of the muscles, improves circulation, aids general relaxation and reduces stress. The effects of massage are both Physiological (relating to the physical structure of the body) and Psychological (relating to the mind).

Holistic massage promotes a state of deep relaxation which allows the body to release tension, free blocked emotions and initiate healing from within. It is beneficial to all body systems and is a natural and effective way to treat both physical conditions and psychological problems.
